WATER CARAFE
The carafe combines two powerful symbols: the hot mineral springs of Sofia, the only European capital with such a natural treasure, and the typical pottery with Troyan motives that usually confronts every tourist visiting Bulgaria.
Odd Matter uses folklore tales about water related to health, longevity and fertility as inspiration confronted with modern culture and the habits of the city. They complete the process by applying and stylizing the famous Troyan slip-trailing decoration technique in order to create a contemporary looking high quality object.

Els Voldhek (Netherlands) and George Manasiev (Bulgaria), collectively Odd Matter Studio (Amsterdam), develop conceptual product design. The duo is driven by curiosity for all the strange and wonderful. Researching, probing, creating and exploring our world’s past, present and future through its materials, processes and concept. The studio believes that by working with existing processes and notions, researching these from a different more naive perspective a different kind of products can be created.
